There are no shortage of towering rooftop bars around Bangkok for sweeping views of the concrete jungle as the sun goes down with an accompanying drink in hand as one of the best nightlife activities the city has to offer. Away from the hustle and bustle of the central districts is the upscale Millennium Hilton Hotel on the Thonburi side of the river as the tallest structure in the vincinity, and its corresponding rooftop bar area from 32 floors above ground. A luxury shopping centre in the middle of Bangkok is an unlikely venue for a 10,000 square metre aquarium containing 30,000 maritime creatures, but underneath the floors of glossy designer shops and brand names that Siam Paragon houses lies a different world to be discovered at basement level. As the building is directly linked to the BTS interchange station, Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World (formerly known as Siam Ocean World) is easily accessible in a prime location of the city for those who love aquatic animals or want a quieter experience away from the shopping crowds where one can easily while away a couple of hours. One of the newest additions to Bangkok’s green spaces, Benjakiti Park is a welcoming recreational and lifestyle retreat right in the heart of the city. Situated halfway between the ever-busy Sukhumvit and Rama 4 Roads next to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, this 130 rai (21 hectares) sized oasis surrounded by the shiny modern office towers of Asok was opened in 2004 to celebrate Queen Sirikit’s 72nd (6th cycle) Birthday. Previously the land was the site of the Crown-owned Tobacco Monopoly of factories and warehouses, and now features a large artificial lake measuring 200 metres wide by 800 metres in length encircled by a 2 kilometre running and cycling path.
